Pouakani Trust is a Charitable Trust that was established to receive the Pouakani Treaty settlement (Pouakani Waitangi Tribunal Claim Wai 33) on 19 March 2001 on behalf of the “Pouakani People”.
The “Pouakani People” are defined as the descendants of the original owners of the Pouakani Block as determined by the Maori Land Court on 4 August 1891.
The Pouakani Trust mission is to improve the well being of the Pouakani people, and this is provided by not only offering grant distribution, but also working closely with those of the community that may need assistance in other ways.
The trustees of Pouakani have been able to grow a significant asset base that has allowed our organisation to provide enrichment and support to a variety of activities (while ensuring they fall under the guidelines of the New Zealand Charities Act 2005). If you would like the opportunity to visit Titiraupenga Mountain, please get in contact about guided access.
With an aim to enrich the lives of our people, we ask our members to keep in touch with us, be involved in what we are doing and stand proud of who we are alongside us.
