About Us
Pouakani Trust, formerly known as Te Putahitanga o Nga Ara Trust, was established in 2000 as a Charitable Trust to receive, manage and administer the proceeds of The Pouakani Treaty Claim Settlement.
The Trustees held a pre-settlement meeting in September 2000 and prepared a strategy that has provided a foundation for receiving, safeguarding and growing the settlement proceeds and establishing the Trust activities.
Pouakani is governed by the Charities Act 2005.
Today, Pouakani Trust generates income from Huiarau Farms Partnership, Ranginui Station Ltd Partnership and Waipohutu Forest which are used to provide grants to registered Pouakani members.
